Reading Terminal Market

Yesterday my son and I took a trip to Philly to go to Reading Terminal Market. I had only been there one time prior to this trip. It was when I first moved here to N.J. a couple of yrs ago and really didn't know what to look for while I was there. I was told to check out DiNics for the famous roasted pork that Adam Richmond raved about. Termini Bros was on the list along with Middle Eastern sweet treats, and a place called The Flying Monkey for Pumpple cake. Pumpple cake for those who do not know is, a huge layered cake. It has vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin pie and apple pie all inside of it.

The produce inside the market is like none I've seen before. Everything was absolutely gorgeous and quite affordable. I also went to Tubby Olive which sold gourmet olive oils and vinegars. That was pretty neat. The fish was beautiful and the cheese went on for days. Overall the experience was pretty awesome.  Now my reviews on each particular item, some great and some maybe not so awesome. I will definitely be going back for more. There is so much I didn't have time to explore and try.

                                                   DiNics Roasted Pork Sandwich.
I love roasted red peppers. However I was told that the "original" roasted pork sandwich didn't have any. So with the advice of several I ordered the roasted pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. I have to disagree that this sandwich is the best. All I tasted was the broccoli rabe, completely overpowered the entire sandwich. I did try the pork on it's own in a sandwich and it was ok. It was cooked nicely, very moist, but no flavor. My sandwich was so soggy that it broke the bread underneath. Overall I would give the sandwich a 4 out of 10.
I will say this, the line went around the corner and then some. For being such an extremely long line, they moved really quickly. It didn't feel like I waited very long at all.

                                                                      Pumpple Cake
Eight dollars per slice for this at the Flying Monkey. The chocolate and pumpkin combo was good. I unfortunately cannot say the same for the rest of the cake. It's always fun trying new food, so I don't regret trying this cake. I give this a 2 out of 10.

                                                                        Termini Bros
The BEST cookies that I've had in many years. Fresh, all the right flavor, affordable, the only thing I regret is not getting more then I did. I had a cannoli on the spot, it was starring me in the face. It was good, standard cannoli. I rate this place a 10. I will definitely be going back!

                                                              Italian Bread-Market Bakery
The bread itself was actually pretty good. Nice crust and soft on the inside. What I don't understand is why they put it in a plastic bag instead of a paper bag. They had french bread in a paper bag. What happens when you put it in plastic is, it ruins the texture and flavor. The moisture from the bag ruins the crust completely. I wouldn't say it's the best bread I've had, but it was definitely good. I rate this place a 7.

                                                       Middle Eastern Sweet Treats

                                                                      Beautiful Fish

                                                  Cheese, cheese and more cheese

This is a Beautiful thing from Tubby Olive

                                                            Picture Perfect Produce

There is so much more I didn't get to see or even take pictures of. Definitely go and experience the Reading Terminal Market for yourself.
